Did I tell you how cool it was to read this because all I knew about your trip to Sundance was your martini glass that you showed me? That's what I get for not asking as well.

Thanks, Shuk! It's also good to know if I get stomped on by Hollywood producers, you'll be there to take me to the hospital.

Without sounding too trite, I think you have the ability and grit to exactly what you want to do. Good luck with this next phase of your journey!

My goodness Matt!!

All this time and it takes a blog before I know the whole story?? I guess that's what I get for not asking.

Before I continue with my comment I need to say a few things in all fairness to keep you honest with your audience.

1. Throughout the time I was helping you with the screenplay at writer's retreats I was always wracking my brain to come up with ways to improve your screenplay. Most fall into that vague, tricky, and subjective category of 'how can we make the audience feel more emotion about X or care more about Y.' The technical and entertainment aspects of Matt's screenplay were almost too strong to suggest corrections or improvements even at the drafting level. So if you're reading this blog, you're reading from one of the best writers and minds I've yet encountered in my travels. And so far I've encountered an awful lot.

2. Without Matt, Luthiel's Song would never have happened. Never. Not in a million years.

3. Read this blog. You will learn from it and you will have fun. Hell it might even challenge you to be a decent person.

4. Matt only mentions his film "Moving." He's probably tired of talking about it so I will for him. Follow the link. Read about it. It's the best Indie comedy you'll ever see that was made on a budget of 10,000 or less. It will give the multi-million dollar comedies a run for it. Grab a beer or a coke. Pull up a couch. Be ready to laugh your ass off (Yah! I'm a YA writer. I don't know if it's proper for me to curse).

OK. Now back to my comments for Matt.

I didn't know you were #5 in the whole program. That's absolutely fantastic!

As for the being poor after you've struggled mightly to produce great work. To receive recognition, but not enough money to survive. I am there with you. I know you know that I know :). But I just wanted to say it.

You've done the tough, great things. You've jumped into the arena with the bull. Beat the bull. Walked out victorious. And you've woken up the next day and had to survive. That's the toughest part.

But I know you. I know you've got a hundred more films in you at least. I know the next run will be even stronger. And I'll be there with you to help in whatever poor or great way I can.

My best to you Matt.
