Only if you're willing to feed me. :-) Seriously, I know you have a cadre of good people who are already looking to maximize the impact of your script.

I do feel I need to publicly acknowledge that the previous blog was the opinion of my friend Pat, who is much more enlightened in the act of script creation than I am. I don't know the difference between a dangling participle and iambic pentameter. I will, however, leave you with this little ditty:

There once was a guy with a rant / Whose script marched on like an ant / To avoid condemnation / Got a producer recommendation / And hopes to come away with a grant.

You're right as always, Shukster. I spent a good two hours writing all that stuff and you say it in one sentence. Would you like to edit my screenplay? :D

Simplified, the long and the short of a good script is that, when the lights go down and the movie starts, if you forget you're in a theater and become engrossed in the story, it's an excellent script/movie/everything.

It's so funny that you mentioned The Queen. I can think of no other moment in any movie I've seen in the last few years that made a more deliciously *painful* lump in my throat than the scene with the stag. The beauty of that breakthrough (watching that stoic, cold, unlovable woman actually FEEL) mixed with Helen Mirren's insane talent made me want to crash through the movie screen and give her and everyone else involved with that movie a sobbing hug.

Finding true pathos is what makes a good character great, and it takes a hell of a writer to do it correctly. Good thing you're a hell of a writer, huh?

I love listening to your stories and points of view! This section reminds me of the after-party with Chip, Karen & Molly where discussions of characters and plots dipped between wine & cigars. I'm so happy you've started this new blog! :-D
