I think he's unlucky that his voice sounds so much like Dave Matthews'. But you KNOW he grew up listening to Dave, playing Dave, and now he writes like Dave. He might even have Dave in the guitar-playing department, but Dave's got the band. Drums, fiddle, horns, keys....it's the full picture. I would like to hear John play with some more energy. We have his "Crash"-type songs, but no "Two-Step". A lot of John's songs sounds like he's falling asleep....

You're welcome, lil' Cassie. I would've been the first person to comment on your blog when it launched, but you didn't let non-members comment. :P Say hi to Bobby! I do miss you guys.

I'm not so keen on "Wonderland" either, for the simple fact it reminds me of Jennifer Love Hewitt and that's unbearable. And it reminds me of my former boss and that's no good either. Stupid reasons, yes.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Yes, the NorVa is amazing. I got my FIRST Virginia speeding ticket while I was on my way there, so it will always hold a special place in my heart right along with the little gas station where I pulled over to get it.

Anyway...

I'm probably a huge weirdo (probably?), but I didn't like Your Body Is A Wonderland the first time I heard it a million years ago (before he was famous as well!) and I still don't. I don't know why, but the bubblegum tongue line makes me imagine someone opening their mouth and a big pink bubblegum bubble forming around their lips where their tongue should be. That's just wrong on so many levels, but what do you expect?

(yay, happy late birthday to me)
